Terms of Service

Last updated: June 11, 2026

Welcome to Aurem. By creating an account or using the app, you're agreeing to these terms. We've tried to write them in plain language. If anything isn't clear, email hello@auremjournal.com and we'll help.

---

## 1. Who's who

Aurem is provided by Aurem Journal LLC, a California limited liability company. Throughout these terms, "we," "us," and "our" mean Aurem Journal LLC. "You" means the person using the app.

---

## 2. Your account

To use Aurem you need to create an account. To do that:

- You must be at least 13 years old.

- You must give us a real email address (or use Sign in with Apple), and keep it up to date.

- You're responsible for whatever happens under your account. Keep your password to yourself, and let us know right away at hello@auremjournal.com if you think someone else has gotten in.

We can suspend or close your account if you break these terms. You can close it yourself at any time from Settings → Delete Account.

---

## 3. What you write is yours

Anything you create in Aurem (your journal entries, photos, drawings, voice memos, covers, stickers) belongs to you. We don't claim ownership of your content. We never will.

We do need a limited license to handle your content for the basic operation of the service: to store it, sync it across your devices, render it on screen, and back it up. That license exists only as long as you keep the content in Aurem, and only so we can run the service. When you delete content or your account, the license ends.

We do not use your content to train AI models. We do not sell or rent your content. We do not show your content to anyone other than you.

---

## 4. Acceptable use

Aurem is a private journal, so most of what you write is between you and your future self. That said, please don't use Aurem to:

- Do anything illegal.

- Store, share, or distribute content that sexually exploits or abuses minors. We will report this to the appropriate authorities and immediately terminate the account.

- Attempt to break into other users' accounts, the database, or the service infrastructure.

- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise abuse the service to harm us or other users.

- Resell or commercially redistribute the app or any part of it.

We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

---

## 5. The service

We try to keep Aurem running smoothly and your data backed up, but we can't guarantee perfection. Aurem is provided "as is." We don't promise it will always be available, completely error-free, or compatible with every version of iOS forever.

We sync your data to the cloud so a lost or replaced phone doesn't mean lost journal entries. We recommend that you also use Aurem's Export to PDF feature periodically to keep your own offline copy, especially if your journal is important to you.

We may add features, change features, or remove features over time. We'll try to give notice for big changes that affect how you use the app.

---

## 6. Third-party services

Aurem relies on a few third-party services (Supabase for hosting, Apple for Sign in with Apple, Spotify for the optional song-of-the-day feature, Resend for sending account emails). Your use of those features is also subject to those providers' terms. We've linked their privacy policies in our own Privacy Policy.

## 7. Subscription, pricing, and the free trial

Aurem is a subscription service. Every new user gets a 7-day free trial. After the trial ends, continued access requires an active Aurem Premium subscription:

- Aurem Premium Monthly — billed monthly

- Aurem Premium Yearly — billed annually at a discount

Current prices are shown in the app's subscription screen before you confirm any purchase. Prices may differ by country to reflect local currency and tax.

Auto-renewal. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your Apple ID will be charged at the start of each renewal period. Apple processes all payments — we never see your card details.

The free trial. If you don't cancel before the 7-day trial ends, your subscription will begin automatically at the price for the plan you chose. You can cancel anytime during the trial with no charge.

Managing or cancelling. Open your iPhone or iPad Settings → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → Aurem. From there you can switch plans, pause, or cancel. Cancelling stops future renewals; you'll keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for.

Refunds. Apple handles refund requests directly. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. We don't process refunds ourselves.

We may change prices in the future. We'll give you advance notice in the app or by email before any change takes effect, and you can cancel before the new price applies.

---

## 8. Cancellation and deletion

You can stop using Aurem any time, no questions asked. To fully delete your account and all your data: Settings → Delete Account. Deletion is immediate and permanent. That includes entries, photos, voice memos, drawings, covers, stickers, fonts, settings, the works. We can't recover any of it after deletion, so make sure to export anything you want to keep first.

---

## 9. Limits on our liability

To the maximum extent the law allows: Aurem is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any lost data, lost profits, or lost goodwill. If for some reason we are liable to you, our total liability is capped at the greater of $50 or the amount you've paid us for the service in the past twelve months.

None of this limits the rights you have under consumer protection laws that apply in your country. If you're in a jurisdiction that doesn't allow some of these exclusions, they don't apply to you to the extent they're not allowed.

---

## 10. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a material way, we'll update the "Last updated" date and let you know in the app or by email before the changes take effect. If you keep using Aurem after a change, it means you accept the new terms.

---

## 11. The legal stuff

These terms are governed by the laws of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts of California.

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.

---

## 12. Contact

Questions, complaints, or anything else, just email hello@auremjournal.com. We read everything that lands there.
